Just in, will be vetted on 12.10.08.  These two little dogs were left in the cold, in a crate together, on someone's doorstep.

There are two tiny (5#) female adult dogs.  They appear to be chihuahua pomeranian mixes, perhaps.  They are both medium haired on their bodies and tails, with delicate thin long legs.  Their tails curl.  They have pixie faces.

Carmen is blonde, and very thin.  She looks a little bit like a tiny coyote.  She tends to be very shy, but is content to sit on your lap quietly.

Reba seems a bit older, but the vet will be able to give an approximate age.  She is red, with a ruff of fur around her neck.  She looks like a little bitty fox.  She has a funny little personality, and talks quite a bit.  She is protective of Carmen.

We just got these little dogs in, and are still evaluating them for temperament and habits.  It appears that they may have been abused, or perhaps lived in a cage.  It could be that they are simply very scared.  They are afraid of lots of things and flinch when you reach out to pet them.  They are afraid to be outside, and putting a collar on them was very scary for them.  They hesitate before they eat, and watch us out of the corner of their eye while eating.  My guess is that they have known hunger.

They are currently eating Canidae canned, to put on some weight and spoil them a bit.  They need a little spoiling.  They also have Canidae kibble available.  They will potty when taken outside, but that is no indication of housebreaking.  We will need more time to evaluate them for things like that.

I don't believe they need to be adopted together, but we will be separating them in short periods of time, to make sure they aren't bonded so hard that it would be detrimental to separate them..

Their adoption fee will be based on their vetwork, which is not completed yet.  They will be tested for heartworms, spayed, vaccinated, and wormed.  They will get preventative flea/tick/heartworm treatment.  If they need extensive vetwork, the adoption fees will be capped at $200 for each dog.  However, there is no indication that they need additional vetwork, nor that they are ill.  They are active and wag their tails.  They will also give kisses and will lick your hand.  They just need some time and a lot of TLC.

We will update their online biographies often, and post new pictures as well.  Our adoption process is explained by going  There, you can fill out on online application and read about our rescue philosophy.  If you have any questions, you can email
